Downtown Burj district is looking up

DUBAI // The new Downtown Burj district, which has been plagued by limited access and poor road signs, is finally coming to life, residents and retailers claim.

They say less-confusing road signs, improved transportation and roads, and clearer access to its attractions are helping the district draw new residents and shoppers.

Retailers at the Souq Bahar say business has improved since October, and the Dubai Shopping Festival led to a spike in interest in the new Dubai Mall. The world’s tallest building, the unfinished Burj Dubai, and a thriving nightlife are also attracting visitors.

Nick Braxton-Abery, the British manager of the Left Bank Bar in the Souq Bahar, said retailers had formed a group to lobby for further improved access to the area. Continue…
